Question about COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)

June 17, 2015

Hi Dr. Reed,

I have been on hormones for 2 years. I had an orchectomy in Aug 2003. I have good breast development,
have lost most male body hair, and have had most of my facial hair removed, Also have an official name change.
Questions: My date of birth is 11/26/49 which means that I am now 66. I have COPD, but I am in other wise good health.
Will you still do my surgary?

Linda

Good afternoon Linda,

Based upon your history of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) you should be done in a hospital setting.

You will need a letter of clearance by a pulmonary doctor to be sure you can tolerate 4 to 5 hours of
general anesthesia. Additionally you will need a thallium stress EKG. If your medical team has reasonable
confidence you are a surgical candidate then initiate a consultation by sending in check for 250.

Cordially,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.
