Clitoromegaly is an abnormal enlargement of the clitoris unassociated with sexual arousal. Can be associated with congenital adrenal hyperplasia, polycystic ovarian syndrome and anabolic steroids.
Women who use testosterone for therapeutic reasons such as low libido, averting osteoporosis, or as part of an anti-depressant regimen may experience some enlargement of the clitoris.
We favor approaching the clitoris from the underside to avoid injury to the neuro-vascular bundle, preserving the general appearance of the glans (although reduced in size) and recessing the clitoral body.
Concomitant reduction of the clitoral hood may also be required.
