Not on hormones but seeking MTF vaginoplasty surgery

Dear Dr. Reed,

I am a transgendered woman seeking sex change MTF vaginoplasty.

I am not on hormones however I am working with a therapist currently and I am hoping to get to that point soon.
Specific_Questions: How do you know or what can I do to determine if I am a good candidate physically for the surgery. My concern is how my vagina will look the depth, any potential complications.   Michelle

Dear Michelle,
Please go right to our web-site srsMIami for before and after MTF photos and also a copy of the informed consent which mentions potential complications.  Some of the assurances that you will do will are patient compliance with instructions, a good height weight ratio (BMI 23 to 27), medical clearances with reference to an EKG and chest X-ray, staying in Miami for a good 7 to 9 days after surgery so we can follow you.
Vaginoplasty depth is typically 5 1/4 to 6 inches, and is related to your height and diligent use of vaginal dilators after surgery.
Being on hormones is not an absolute requirement but recommended to assist with your transition and ease of acceptance in society as a woman.
