Dr. Reed, I have seen social services at the Callen-Lorde transgender center and feel orchiectomy is appropriate for me in my male to female transition. I have a case director and 2 therapists who can write letters of concurrence.
What is the fee and please discuss a typical scenario in anticipation of the visit. Audrey
Before we can schedule you in for an orchiectomy, we need to initiate a consultation on the phone. Your consultation fee of 250 provides for that, plus opening a folder for you, so any correspondence can be placed there. This fee also provides for many Email exchanges, telephone calls, review of lab work, as well as your first pre-op visit to the office.
Our fee for affordable orchiectomy $2,500. Includes surgery, local anesthesia with IV sedation, use of the operating and recovery room, and any followup care we provide during your stay. We can even provide antibiotics at no charge. We encourage a female friend be present with you.
A typical orchiectomy scenario is the see us the day before surgery, surgery the next day, and stay at a nearby hotel for 2 post op days. You’ll leave with a compression dressing which can be removed that day or the next day after returnee home. Yes, you can shower then. While some early ambulation is encouraged, no strenuous activity for a good 2 to 3 weeks. You could do light shopping in about 6 days. Your singular vertical scrotal orchiectomy incision line will not recover full tensile strength until 7 to 8 weeks after surgery. When it heals, it may not be apparent to the casual observer.
