Limited Vaginoplasty for older sexually inactive patient

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

More often than before we are receiving requests from older patients who want more to have their penis and testes removed and look like a female down below, but are seeking a reduced fee based on foregoing a vaginoplasty (making of a vagina) per se.

Sure we can accommodate these people, but must caution them, that a sexual feature of the external female anatomy is a cleavage between labia, and this cleavage can only be best developed if an invagination of skin into the area which normally would become the vagina is performed.  Otherwise, there is a term, “smoothie” for the end result, and I think this is not aesthetically appealing and almost a nihilist procedure.  There are people that want to sign off on sexual life whatsoever, but how long this will last falls into an area of uncertainty.   What then?

So yes, we can do the operation, and there will be a fee reduction.  Some recognition from your therapist(s) acknowledging this is what you want and will have and can live with, would be appreciated.

MTF Hormone doctor needed

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

I was on estrogen from doctor in Indianapolis however every time I have had an appointment with him he seems to come in 2 to 3 hours later and have numerous patients that are waiting to see him. I am presently taking Premarin at 1.25 mgs per day under my doctor care I was taking 1.25 units of estradiol by injection every 2 weeks. I am in need of a new doctor at this time.

Mitchell

Good morning Mitchell,

Many thanks for your interest what we do.

Your options include speaking with the doctor and asking him/her to be more respectful of your time, seeking another endocrinologist in Indianapolis, or seeing us.

Our approach is to see the patient once a year, order lab tests over the phone to be drawn at a local lab in Indianapolis, resulted and faxed to me, and we’ll keep your prescriptions going over the phone.

If this is of interest to you, please advise. We have some comments to make about Premarin after you become an established patient.

All the best and remember you have a friend in Bay Harbor Islands, Florida (greater Miami),

Silicone injections, bad news

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Silicone injection to the male genitalia as well as other parts of the body for enhancement is often done by non-medical personnel or doctors operating in foreign countries. The fees seems affordable, but the results are often disastrous. Silicone like injectable fat chooses paths of least resistance. Once inserted, silicone takes a random walk and the ultimate result is often unpredictable.

We have seen many transsexual females with butts that look like car tires. Way too much material is often unfortunately a feature of silicone practitioners and the results are very grotesque.

Here are some examples including one case of a female breast representative of so many we have seen, with hard lumpy contours.

Lastly although we are removing silicone as frequently as a few cases a month, there are surgical pitfalls. Silicone destroys normal healthy vascularity, so there is a propensity for poor wound healing, including separation and infection. Inevitably some silicone must be left within few milliliters of the skin as removing all of that will certainly result in skin necrosis. Silicone often will track into the lymphatic system. Tissue bulking secondary to ligneous edema may result in periodic swelling depending upon degree of physical activity.

Please be advised they are not pretty.

Military patient on Grant program unable to keep appointment for her surgery

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

So….. if the discount helps.

We had a patient, active military, fail to confirm with a 50% deposit which is  non-refundable.  This was our last grant and will go to the first qualified patient at 8000.  Other out of pocket expenses and contingency funds are needed of course.

The open date is March 12, and as this is already blocked out with available staff on hand.   We are giving the date away to a worthy patient.   This opportunity is not available or transferable for those already scheduled in at some other time.
Sincerely and Happy Valentines Day,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.
