Removing the entire Adams apple

Hello, I am interested in a tracheal shave or Adam’s Apple reduction.

However I am wondering is it possible to remove the entire Adam’s Apple?

If not why? Tricia

Good morning Tricia,

The so called Adams apple or laryngeal prominence represents a feature of the human neck. This lump, or protrusion, is formed by the angle of the thyroid cartilage surrounding the larynx. This structure contains the laryngeal cords, needed for speech.  It also keeps the trachea open so you can breath.

This is why then entire Adams apple cannot be removed. Even with a shave, some patients will have tell-tale neck scars and if the shave is done in an overly aggressive manner, there will be permanent coarseness of voice.

We understand Dr. Toby G. Mayer in Beverly Hills, California (800 854 8823) does exceptional work in this area.

Hope the attached is helpful with other aspects of your MTF.

Sincerely,
