Will orchiectiomy shrink my scrotum, in anticpation of future vaginoplasty
If you intend ultimately to have SRS you need to be cautious before deciding in an orchiectomy.
Several surgeons advise againstĀ as the subsequent shrinkage of the scrotal sack can mean insufficient material for SRS. Best to first decide on which surgeons you are likely to consider and get their advice.

Hi Samantha,
We do a lot of orchiectomies and many of these patients do ultimately return for
vaginioplasty. Our experience has been if vaginoplasty follows orchiectomy by a
few years, there has been no difference as scrotal skin stretches. May even
look absolutely unchanged.
More important is to look at the surface area of the scrotum before anything is
done, and only a doctor who has done that and taken fairly good notes will be
able to comment if there were really any changes. Many of our MTF patients who
have never had an orchiectomy already have somewhat diminutive genitalia.
Perhaps this is part of the reason why they are not pro being a male. Could be
a hormonal or hormonally induced psychological or genetic thing.
Please do not feel these comments are a put-down, but just another point of
view.
Sincerely,
Harold M. Reed, M.D.
