Dear Dr. Reed,

No, I only wish to have breast surgury. I do not want a full conversion. I want a mastectomy with nipple replacement. I viewed the photos on your web page and they look great. It is exactly what I would like for surgery.
Specific_Questions: I was wondering the cost of this type of surgery and what finance options are out there. I do not want a conversion only the breast surgery. I have seen a local surgeon but he did not appear to understand the consept of what I want. I want a mastectomy to look like a mans chest.

Madison

Good morning Madison,

Understood. In that this is not conventional surgery, and irreversible and possibly could lead to remorse later on 2 letters of psychiatric clearance will be required

Sincerely,

Outpatient surgery with convalescence at home or a nearby motel has been an established mode of medical practice for many excellent hospitals and surgery centers.

Some patients need followup for a few days. When it comes to visiting patients at non-specified hotels/motels, sorry I do not do this. The 2 hotels we do recommend are the Baltic (advanced tourist class) with abundance of white linens, an appetizing breakfast spread and coffee in the reception area, and an amiable hostess Christina. Or Daddy O’s (more posh) with assistant manager Courtney and her lovely staff.

These are not the best of times, you know that. I will not walk with a doctors bag in a dimly lit corridor, in a strange budget hotel/motel to see one lonesome patient who wishes to save $25 a day on a room. If you look like a woman, in the eyes of Florida medical ethics, you are a woman, and the availability of another woman in the room if need be is a standard of care.

Christina has been looking after our patients for 4 or more years, and does many things no hotel front desk person will ever do. For example: go to the CVS Pharmacy and pick up a prescription (they won’t deliver), make breakfast, fuss over you a little bit, provide some cheerful company during the day, etc. Call me if there is concern.

Other doctors may work differently, but that’s how we do it.

Harold M. Reed, M.D.

Dear Dr. Reed,

I’ve been on hormones for 6 years. I’ve also had top surgery about 5 years ago.
Specific_Questions: I’d really like to stand to void. I was wondering if it is better to have a hysterectomy and vaginal closure before or after my phaloplastmy especially in regards to the lengthening of the urethra.

Adamos

Good afternoon Adamos,

Thank you for your interest in what we do.

Yes, before proceeding to either phalloplasty or metoidioplasty you should have a laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy, bilateral oophorectomy, and colpocleisis (closure of the vagina by fulguration and purse string sutures).

After reading the attached, if you believe I am the doctor for you, please initiate a consultation over the phone with our office by sending us your name, address, and telephone number in an envelope along with a check for 250. We’ll get started ASAP. We’ll have a lot to talk about.

I would like to know about metoidioplasty and also i want to know if i can still keep my vagina. And have both

Jonas

Good morning Jonas.

Thank you for your interest in what we do.

Yes, you can do this. However, stand to void results are more fraught with incomplete closure and may need revision surgery. Also if you are looking for a stand to void result, the entrance way may be somewhat smaller. So an option to consider is just metoidioplasty and void sitting as you do now.

After reading the attached, if you believe I am the doctor for you, please initiate a consultation over the phone with our office by sending us your name, address, and telephone number in an envelope along with a check for 250. We’ll get started ASAP. We’ll have a lot to talk about.

Please keep in mind… April is a promotional offer month if you stay at the Baltic Hotel (advanced tourist class, 877-622-5842). Ask for Christina and mention my name.

I am on hormones, received a name change and is currently living as a man
Specific_Questions: am I able to get the top and bottom surgery done at the same tome or within a week of each other if I am from out of town?

Jason

Good morning Jason,

We do not recommend both procedures be done at the same time, but rather 3 months
or so apart to allow for suitable wound healing. Just too much surgery.

Undoubtedly you may find some adventuresome surgeon who will do this, but the risks
are somewhat higher.

Sincerely,

April 24, 2011

Hello,

I’m trying to find out what I need to do to have my chest done; I want to go from female to male but I do not want the bottom surgery done. Do I need to be on hormones or see a therapist? I’m interested in having the surgery done in Miami. I am 29 yrs. old and in good health. I appreciate your help. Cynimae

Good morning Cynimae and Happy Easter,

Thank you for your interest in what we do.

2 letters of therapy clearance are required as this is irreversible surgery.

One letter must come from a therapist with a doctoral degree and the other from a therapist with a least a masters degree. One letter is regarded as a letter of concurrence.

As soon as your first letter is completed, please initiate a consultation with our office by sending in your name, address, and phone number in an envelope along with a check for 250.

The attached may be of interest.

Surely you can have top surgery without bottom surgery.

While you do not need to be on hormones, testosterone does provide secondary male characteristics such as beard and deepening of your voice.

Sincerely,

and we are leaving a light in the window for you,

April 1, 2011

I am a 31 year female who wants to get the female to male reassignment surgery. I am moving to Kissimmee, Florida from the Philippines and I have always known that I wanted to get this done, but wanted to wait until I finished all of my college to get it done. Now that I have finished and getting ready to work soon, I would like to know all the information I need to get my body ready to processed with preparing my body for the change. Which medication I need to start taking and so on.
Can you please get back to me with all this information so I can begin my treatment to transform my body.
Thank you,
Jinger

Good afternoon Jinger,

We do hormones. A letter of therapy clearance is required by a licensed therapist with a doctoral degree. Our fee is 250 for consultation, and 600 per year to follow you with needed lab tests, office visits, prescriptions, counselling, numerous telephone calls, and medical records documentation.

Lab tests are an out of pocket expense as is the medication. We may recommend a laboratory, but you can have them done at a nationally recognized laboratory of your choice.
