November 25, 2011

Hi Dr. Reed,

No I am not on any hormones, but taking herbs, to help me along the way
Specific_Questions: Well first, I want to remove both testicles,But was wondering will this make me more femmine by doing this, with out testerones I understand taht my other parts also produce the hormone.I do know that the body needs hormones to equal out the system, so as soon as these are removed could i start extenisive estrogen program, also one more question, is any of the skin that the testicles are wrapped in used for furthering my surgery, to become a female, or is it just wasted skin? thanks for the info, your web site is quite promising, thank you, Janice

November 25, 2011

Good morning Janice,

Thank you for your interest in what we do. You can have orchiectomy without any additional procedure for the time being. You will need 2 letters of therapy clearance as mentioned in the attached. If you are interested in hormones to accelerate secondary sexual characteristics, we do that.

When testes are removed there is some feminizing effect, but usually not that impressive as your skin may get softer, you’ll shave less, there may be very early breast growth, but not to be compared with one breast size smaller than your mother or sister when you are on proper estrogens for 2 years.

Our fee is 600 per year as you will need to be followed every 3 months for a while. Laboratory testing and your selection of a pharmacy for medication is additional.

The advantages of orchiectomy are reduction in the amount of estrogens you need to take daily, less toxicity and some savings. Of course, some bulge reduction. Most MTF patients who anticipate vaginoplasty will save their scrotal skin for labia formation and vaginal depth extension.

After reading the attached, if you believe I am the doctor or you, please initiate a consultation over the phone with our office by sending us your name, address, and telephone number in an envelope along with a check for 250. We’ll
get started ASAP. We’ll have a lot to talk about.

Please keep in mind. This November is a promotional month. Call the office and speak with Anne our amiable office
manager for details.

Cordially,

Dr. Reed,
I am a 38 Year old MTF and have been living as a Female full time for over three years now (minus work). The only kink I have is I am in the Military and will be leaving the Service very soon after 18 years of service. I am looking to Complete my SRS as soon as I can. I saw on the internet that there are grants out there for transgendered people to complete their transition. I have had breast augmentation already from a doctor in Tampa. I have also been on hormones for over four years. My family supports me and is happy that I have found and made my choice on what has truly made me complete and happy.

I am asking how would one apply for a grant with you or whom may be able to provide help in the financial aspect of my process. I was hopping to maybe find enough in the way of grants to pay for all or even just a part of my SRS operation.

I am looking to become a public figure to promote and equal rights for ALL!!

I want to thank you for your time,

Veronica

September 28, 2010

Good morning Veronica,

Having been in the military myself, 2/10 Cav, squadron surgeon retired, I have a soft spot for military folks. There is a discipline and understanding of organization you people have, that folks who have not been in the military just don’t seem to grasp. I am going to use the word “deprived” of a valuable experience.

The Grant program has been oversubscribed, but last week a patient who is 5’8″ and weighs 118 pounds not suitable for surgery, has rescinded the offer. That is the only opportunity available now. The Grant program based upon testicular donations for research isn’t likely to renew, because the laboratory has come to the conclusion, testes on estrogens don’t react normally to their protocol.

Hope the attached is helpful. If you believe I am the doctor for you, please initiate a consultation with our office by sending us your name, address, and phone number in an envelope along with a check for 250 and you will receive a call ASAP. We’ll have a lot to talk about.

While the Grant program will reduce your fee by 25% more importantly look for a doctor whose work, followup care, and reputation is appealing.

There is a lot of information we need to put out to you as well as address all of your concerns, including scheduling and followup care. Anticipate we will show you every courtesy.

With kindest regards,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.

I am 7 years on Testosterone. 5 years post-op top surgery. Legally male in the state of Ohio.
Specific Question: Do you perform testicular implants as a procedure by itself. I typically take a long time to heal and do not want to complicate my healing by having multiple procedures at once. I’m ideally looking to have the scrotoplasty/implants done first and then decide on whether meta or phalloplasty is a better option for myself.

Sincerely, Seth

Good afternoon Seth,

Yes, we can. The attached may be of some help. Please see http://srsmiami.com/photography-f2m.html and http://penisdoctor.com/photo6.htm for photographic examples of our work.

Done many years ago, elsewhere. She has recurrent bleeding from the urinary opening and has received the million dollar workup from another urologist unfamiliar with MTF patients, including 2 cystoscopies, flexible and rigid, and MRI and a CT scan, and the obvious left unattended for years. Her urethra opens almost at the top of her pubis rather than underneath which would be normal for a natal female.

She notes during voiding the urinary tube which runs over her pubic bone swells.

Plan… the extended urethra will be opened in the midline, and not discarded, but rather tacked laterally to the sides to create a lubricous vulva with the edges raised to simulate labia minora. Normal labia minora are characterized by the inside being pink and mucosal and the outside being pigmented. Her new meatus if possible will be built up or raised slightly as is typical for a normal female and then spatulated laterally or funnelized so it will always stay patulous or open.

This can be done usually under local anesthesia with some IV sedation. Typically we place Emla or Betacaine ointment on the areas to be injected so the patient will not even feel a needle stick.

Perhaps we’ll be publishing some pre and post op photos.

This coming month we will offer an additional 5. This past month all 5 were quickly taken by needy patients who are really caught in this recession crunch.

What’s included: surgery, use of facility, private duty RN nursing care, anesthesia, any followup care provided by Dr. Reed, including touch ups under local.

What’s not included: consultation, stents, travel, out of pocket expenses, some medications (the small stuff). We do have Cipro samples enough for 10 more cases.

This means you may have feminizing vaginoplasty for as little as $5,000 and for no more than $8,500 if we can secure an allotment for you. It all starts with an E-mail letter admin@srsMiami.com
