Dr Reed good morning. I would like to ask if you accept health insurance for the MTF surgery? I work as a nurse here in St. Pete. Thanks Deborah
Good morning Deborah,
We do not accept insurance for transgender surgery. However, while we are not contracted providers with any insurance company, and some of the reasons are mentioned below, we will provide your insurance company with a universal form to facilitate any reimbursement they may offer you directly.
Insurance companies retain on average 1 dollar for every 2 they take in (profit and operating expenses). As result doctors get paid about 10 to 15 cents on the dollar. Hospitals do a little better because they have more clout. Yet, our office is perhaps the most reasonable of any in the US, in that we own our Florida registered facility outright.
Medical insurance companies are in no rush to pay once a service has been rendered, Our experienced per diem help is paid immediately. Insurance companies are the masters of telephone prompts, long holds, transfers and transfers and transfers to someone who will eventually finds a reason why he/she can’t help you. Their staff is highly trained to look for reasons to deny a claim.
The good news is if your insurance company will pay for hospitalization and anesthesia at the hospital, we will reduce our surgical fee by thousands of of dollars and hopefully they will reimburse you for that. They would know best, so call them and ask.
You deserve the best care, and I am confident at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, a large regional hospital in partnership with Columbia University, you’ll get that.
You may be surprised that 50% of our patients come in with a sponsor, a family member, friend, lover, spouse, church group, or business partner. Yes. we wish to provide you with an affordable vaginoplasty. Equally as important is to look at before and after photos of our vaginoplasty results and see if that appeals to you. You are already in Florida, This is a plus.
