My insurance pays for out of state transgender surgery

Dr. Reed,  I am 21 and somewhat discouraged because my doctor who was supposed to do my transgender vaginoplasty is not returning phone calls and answers my Emails very slowly.  I am thinking he is no longer enthusiastic about doing my surgery.  I have my 2 letters and electrolysis performed pretty much as suggestions on your web-site  Do you accept insurance and how soon can I be scheduled in?

Dear Kimberly,

We do not accept any insurance when they are a determiner of our fee.  As a rule, insurance companies pay 10 to 15 cents on the dollar and look for reasons to delay or deny payments.

However (big however) if our hospital accepts your insurance, we will reduce our fee by several thousand dollars. Maybe your carrier will reimburse you.  Call them and ask. Sounds like you are all set. As important as having an affordable vaginoplasty is to have work done by an experienced surgeon, who should have photos available on line for you to view.

We have availabilities as early as next month.  Yes, and have done many patients at the hospital who are covered by insurance
