Orchiectomy | Dr. Harold M. Reed | Miami

Dear Dr. Reed,

Which orchiectomy approach is most favorable for future vaginoplasty? Doing  the math, having an economical orchiectomy now will reduce the costly expense of testosterone blockers.

Cassandra

Dear Cassandra,

Whoever does your orchiectomy ideally you want both testes removed via the same minimalist incision and of course your want the spermatic cords removed as well, so you will not be left with “tootsie rolls”.  We favor a midline vertical incision usually about 1 1/4″ long and the heals usually imperceptibly.  Photgraphic examples can be seen on our web-site srsmiami.com/orchiectomy  These patients have also requested scrotal removal but you can see how the incision heals.  Most patient consider our fee of $2,500 which includes local anesthesia and IV sedation, use of the operating room and any followup care we provide to be a very good value.

Cordially,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.
