Orchiectomy | Dr. Harold Reed | Miami

Dr. Reed,  Am saving up for Orchiectomy. I would like to get off the testosterone blockers.  Are you or Anne able to offer any compassionate discount. Would be greatly appreciated.

Tawnya

Dear Tawnya,  We perform orchiectomies at the Reed Centre for Transgender Surgery weekly and will do whatever we can to help you move along.  Another advantage is you’ll lower your estrogen requirement by about a third, not to mention getting rid of the bulge.  You’ll tuck more easily and wear tighter leggings.   In that this is an irreversible procedure, you may give consideration to sperm banking.  If you are married a letter from your wife is required to avoid issues relating to loss of consortium.  Additionally, 2 letters of therapy clearance, one written by a therapist with a doctoral degree.

Only a small vertical midline incision is required.  We’ll be sure to remove the “tootsie roll” (spermatic cords).  This will not affect your capacity to have a decent sized scrotal graft a deeper vaginoplasty in the future..  Scrotal skin stretches.

Cordially,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.

Below is a photo of an older patient who requested bilateral orchiectomy and scrotal removal.

Orchiectomy Example 2: Another patient status post orchiectomy and scrotal removal, unsure if she was ever capable of going all the way. P.S. she now wishes to have complete MTF and loss of scrotum poses no problem whatsoever. Hoping to post followup photos in a few months.

Patient had bilateal orchiectomy and scrotal removal and later decided to have vaginoplasty
