Dear Dr. Reed,
What is the maximum versus typical depth you can provide, with penile skin inversion technique? I am 5′ 2″ tall.
For a patient 5′ 6″, a depth of 5 1/2″ to 6 ” would be typical. My responsibility is not to enter the abdominal cavity.
In shorter transgender patients I have to be more conservative and leave you with a depth of at least 5″, but
with vaginal dilators you can build on that post-operatively and probably work your way close to 6 inches.
A limiting factor is not your penile shaft skin length as we can provide you with a scrotal graft extension at no added charge.
I have seen women go from 4 to 6 inches just with dilators alone. Please do not think “if I am sexually active I do not need to dilate.”
Ideally you should be dilating at least 3 times a day. If you are losing length after surgery, you’ll take dilating more seriously.
The average Caucasian male erection is about 5 1/2″. More important is that you are orgasmic and your partner and
you enjoy sex together.
