Thinking of getting my SRS soon, but don’t have anybody to watch me or care after surgery, wonder if someone is in the same situation and we can do it for each other. ????
Although you’ll be out of bed the day after surgery, you do need a lady to be in the room with you for a few days to assist with bedside care such as having foods and fluids nearby and perhaps emptying the urine drainage bag for the first day.
If you stay at Daddy O Hotel, you might befriend a maid to be with you for a few minutes when the doctor makes rounds.
If you do not live in the South Florida area, you will need to enlist the services of a doctor beforehand in your hometown to remove sutures and perhaps do minor wound care. Our office is always available by phone and surely we welcome seeing you again at the office. Sutures come out on the 14th post-op day. Most patients will leave Miami on the 7th post op day.
Ideally your friend will be here on the 7th post op day when we show you how to use the vaginal dilators to be sure, you are doing it right.
Yes, we have had 2 people having SRS surgery separated by a few days who help each other. Another advantage is a “group” discount.
With every best wish you wish for yourself,
Harold M. Reed, M.D.
If I lived near you I would help you.
