Dear Dr. Reed, Had a sex change vaginoplasty elsewhere and dilating was painful, so I stopped and now have virtually no vagina whatsoever. What can be done. for Vaginal closure
Dilation is key to maintain vaginal depth after vaginoplasty. Even if you have a boy=friend, sex is not always consistent and relationship sometimes become inconsistent. There are 4 recognized approaches, one is the McIndoe, that is to re-create a space and line it with a skin graft, or have a colonic vaginoplasty, or a Vecchietti procedure that is constant inversion of an olive bogie into a potential vaginal space by use of a pubic skin racket which is tenses every few day, or our approach which is non-grafted recreated of the space which ultimately become epithelialized, skin grows into the space. We had published an article last year on our experience and since then have done several more cases with good results. The article is entitled “Non-grafted Vaginal Depth Augmentation for Transgender Atresia, Our Experience and Survey of Related Procedures and appeared in Asthetic Plastic Surgery.
