Seeking sponsor for my transgender vaginoplasty

Dr. Reed, Do you now of any organization or people who are available to sponsor a transgender vaginoplasty.

Dear Marla,

Funding for transgender vaginoplasty is secured in many ways, but first seek a doctor who you feel confident in, based upon photos of his or he work, comments of other patients, trans support sites, etc.  No all doctors are equally experienced, equally accessible, etc,  In the US there are about 4 or 5 who do good work and are “big producers”, fair amount of case experience.  There are others who do good work and are building their practices.  We started out in 2003, for example.  Some patients will opt to have work done abroad, hoping there will not be a need for followup care.

You are looking for an acceptable “turn on” result that makes you and your intimates like what they see.  You want depth and you want to be orgasmic.

About 50% of our patients come in with one or more sponsors, could be a family member, spouse, partner, church group or friend.  And not surprisingly the sponsor is here with the patient.  In part this relates to your social skills. There is an organization called The Jim Collins Foundation, which helps a few patients every year.  They completely underwrote the costs of surgery for one of our patients, so this is real.

Next to consider, different centers have different fees. Those who own their operating center may be in a position to reduce fees.  We maintain a Florida state approved office based surgery center.  Some doctors will accept insurance, but most do not because they are slow payers, find reasons to procrastinate or denying a claim, and worst of all pay about 10 to 15 cents on the dollar versus what a doctor normally charges.

The good news is if you have insurance, and our hospital accepts that insurance along with anesthesia at the hospital, we can reduce our fees by several thousand dollars.

Hopefully these are some ideas to help make feminzing vaginoplasty affordable for you.
