Take home orchiectomy? FAQ to | Dr. Reed | The Reed Centre for Transgender Surgery

Dr. Reed,  Will be having a transgender orchiectomy with you this October. Will I be able to take home the specimen(s).  Nayla

Dear Nayla,

We do on average 100 orchiectomies a year and this past year, surprisingly 3 patients made the same request. Assuming that you have no complaints or symptoms referable to your testes and they look normal or atrophic, we will place them in a specimen container with formalin (a preservative).  We will ask that you sign for them. In the event that you wish to dispose of the specimen I respectfully suggest you bring the jar to a medical facility and have them placed in a bio-hazardous container.

Thank you for thinking of the Reed Centre for affordable transgender orchiectomy.  Please see our web-site for before and after photos our of transgender surgery.
