Transgender breast augmentation

Dr. Reed  Have been on hormones for about 9 months and desire transgender
breast augmentation.  What advice can you give me.

Alicia

Dear Alicia,

Please visit http://srsmiami.com/breast-augmentation/ for before and after photos
of our breast augmentation work.

My recommendation is that you be on hormones with proper levels of estrogens for a full 2 years,
so you can max out your “home grown”: breast size.  As a rule you will be 1 cup size smaller than your Mom or sister.

Ideally the implant size should be somewhat smaller than true palpable breast mass to avoid the double bubble effect.

If you desire more volume we can increase the projection,  We favor the inframammary and sub-pectoral approach.  This is sometimes called the dual plane approach in that most of the implant is shielded by your overlying pectoralis muscle which provides added bulk to the overall look.  At that level personally I do not think the average individual can discern whether the implants are saline or silicone.

Saline can be done through a smaller incision because they are inserted collapsed and rolled up.  Silicone incisions are somewhat larger and lots of squeezing is required to push it in.  This may create injury to the implants which may manifest itself months to years later on.

Cordially,
