Do I need to be on hormones for any period of time in order to have an orchiectomy?
We do not require that especially if you are very effeminate, or if there is a medical reason why you do not wish to take hormones, such as being over 55 or a prior history of coagulopathic events. If on hormones, we do ask that you stop for 1 month before orchiectomy, and as a rule of thumb you can resume under the auspices of your hormone prescriber taking typically 1/3rd less than previously.
