Transgender orchiectomy

Dr. Reed, Need an orchiectomy.  Have been living as a transgender woman for 3 years (24/7) and would like to eliminate from my regimen spironolactone a testosterone blocker (also a diuretic which makes me weak)   How soon would you be available?.  Nelda

Dear Nelda,
Thank you for your interest in what we do, several orchiectomies every month. See http://srsmiami.com/orchiectomy/ We remove both testes via a singular 1″ vertical midline incision which permits high ligation of the cord,   No tootsie roll. Please see Before and after male to female sex change photos on our web-site srsMiami.com

Among the advantages are the feminzing effects, discontinuation of a testosterone blocker and reduction of estrogens by a third.  Our fee for orchiectomy is 2,500 which includes local anesthesia with IV sedation, use of the facility, surgery and any followup care I provide.  The initial consultation is 250 and provides for many telephone calls, review of medical records, E-mail exchanges and your initial visit to the office.  You will also be credited with a 1000 discount towards future vaginioplastywith us in addition to any other individual consideration offered at the time.

Anticipate pre-op lab work (CBC, platelet count, PT, and PTT) and a letter of medical clearance.  If you are over 40, an EKG report and tracing are needed.

Please refrain from use of estrogens for one month before orchiectomy and spironolactone if you are taking that for 2 weeks before surgery.

No aspirin or aspirin products, no anti-inflammatory drugs such as Motrin, Advil, Alleve, or Cox 2 inhibitors such as Celebrex or Vioxx for a week before surgery. No Vitamin E or excessive alcohol or spices for a week before surgery as this may promote bruising.

Bruising can be reduced (many believe) with Bromelain 500 mg 1 twice
a day, Arnica montana (Boiron brand) dose 30C (take 4 small tablets
sublingually, 4 times a day), vitamin C 500 mg (3 times a day) starting 1 week before surgery. Do take these medications unless there are specific reasons why you choose not to and let’s discuss it beforehand.

Boiron brand is available at Whole Foods and on the web at
http://www.vitaminshoppe.com for “pennies” and we do notice a difference. You will need 2 vials.

We do recommend you stay at one of 2 hotels for 2 days afterwards.  Either
Daddy O (1-305-866-8845) no added charge for an extra person, free breakfasts, 3 star and 1 block from our office, where I make rounds daily or the Baltic Hotel, (1-305-861-8845).  Mention my name for a discount.

Please consider sperm banking. After all this is irreversible surgery.

You will need 2 letters of therapy clearance, and at least one of
the therapists must have a doctoral degree.

If need be, we can arrange for therapy evaluation in the greater Miami area.  Some of our therapists can evaluate you over the phone using “skype.”

1. The letter should be written on a professional letterhead.

2. In the first paragraph, the therapist should introduce himself/herself and provide some background about his/her training, etc.

3. That the likelihood of patient remorse or regret having had surgery is extremely low or remote.

4. That the patient is mentally/emotionally stable

5. Towards the end of the letter the therapist has to say (words to this effect) I recommend, I endorse, I approve, “Katelyn” would be an excellent candidate for feminzing vaginoplasty or orchiectomy. (not intersex surgery) . Not
“Katelyn” has a good head on her shoulders, she knows what to do. That the procedure is medically necessary.

6. At least one letter has to be written by a therapist with a doctoral degree.

7. One letter is a comprehensive letter which details your psychological background, pertinent medical history , any adjustment problems, etc.

8. The second letter is a letter of concurrence (more simple).

9. Lastly, the therapist or psychiatrist has to say, I would welcome a call from Dr. Reed, if there are any questions or concerns.

If you have difficulty obtaining such letters we have a list of therapists in Florida all with doctoral degrees, and you can confer with them and check out fees, etc. They do the evaluation and write such letters routinely.
Hoping this is of help. Please feel free to call me at any time if I may be of more service.

We have availabilities for orchiectomy almost every week.

After reading the attached, if you believe I am the doctor for you, please
initiate a consultation over the phone with our office by sending us your name,
address, and telephone number in an envelope along with a check for 250.    We’ll get started ASAP.  We’ll have a lot to talk about.

With best wishes for a complete fulfillment of your goals,
