Transgender Orchiectomy Questions

Dr. Reed,

I am almost ready to set a surgery date for Transgender Orchiectomy. Can I do this on-line , or should I do it over the phone? Also….

1. I understand that you will require a 50% deposit. Once I set a date, do I just mail it in? Do you prefer check or money order?

2. I would prefer to have the blood/lab work done at the time of my consultation, which I assume would be the day before surgery. Is that 250 total to be paid at that time, or in advance?

3. Regarding my letter of psychiatric clearance, would you prefer that I mail it with my deposit, bring it at the time of surgery, or have my physician fax it directly to your office?

If you could just elaborate a bit on scheduling as well as the total amount due at time of surgery, and what forms of payment you accept, I will try to set a date. I’m hopefully looking at late April/early May depending on your available dates and my work schedule. Thanks you much for your time, I look forward to meeting with you in the near future.   Brenda

Dear Brenda,

Thank you for your interest in Transsexual Orchiectomy at the Reed Centre – Miami   We do several Male to Female Orchietomies here every month.

Taking your thoughtful questions in the order posed.  Either form of payment of your deposit is acceptable as long as your check has time to clear.  As may understand we cannot accept personal checks the day before surgery and some of them are returned. You can have lab work done in your home town.  We’ll send a requisition to the lab..  2 letters of therapy clearance are needed, one from a therapist with doctoral degree.  They should arrive well in advance of your surgery so I have time to review.  We have availabilities for orchiectomy almost every month.  In that we own our state approved office based surgery center, we can keep our fees very affordable.

Have a restful weekend,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.
