Dr. Reed, Will you take my insurance for MTF vaginoplasty. I saw your MTF vaginoplasty before and after pictures and would like you to be my transgender surgeon.
While we are not contracted providers with any insurance company, meaning we will not allow them to determine our surgical fee and (yes) take their time to pay us after lots of back and forth exhausting dialog. In truth insurance companies pay about 10 to 15 cents on the dollar, compared to what US surgeons charge,. What we can do is see if our hospital will accept your insurance and do your case there and give you a 50% reduction. “We pay for transgender surgery” Oh, yea? See if your insurance company will reimburse you. Your next question to them is how soon and how much? Doubt you’ll get a straight forward answer.
As a rule insurance companies keep 1 dollar for every 2 they take in. How willing do you think insurance companies are ready to disperse $8000 plus to someone who has recently signed up. If a 50% reduction in fees sounds good to you, please call the office for details and scheduling. Also see if “The First 17 in 2017” sound good to you.
